The short version
We collect your name, your email, and the weekly Screen Time screenshots you choose to send us. We use them to work out whether your rewards unlock and to catch cheating. We do not sell your data, and we never see your card number. You can ask us to delete everything by emailing [email protected].
This policy explains what Spend Life Living does with your personal information, both on this website and in the app. Questions go to [email protected].
This website does not use analytics, advertising tags, or tracking cookies. We do not set a cookie to identify you when you browse these pages. Our host, Cloudflare, processes standard server request data such as your IP address in order to serve the site and protect it from abuse.
If you fill in one of our forms, the form is hosted by Tally, and what you submit goes to Tally and then to us.
Account information. Your name and email address when you sign up.
Screen time submissions. When you submit a weekly screenshot, we store the image itself, the number of hours read from it, and the week it covers.
Anti-fraud signals. Along with each submission we store your device type, the image's dimensions, its EXIF metadata, a fingerprint (hash) of the image, and the day and time you submitted it.
Membership and rewards activity. Your subscription status, your baseline, your round and targets, which rewards you unlocked, and which ones you redeemed and when.
Payment information. Handled by Stripe. We never see or store your card number. We receive a record that a payment succeeded or failed and when your billing period ends.
Push notification token. Only if you turn notifications on.
Your name and email run your account and let us send you service messages about your membership. Your screenshots and the hours read from them are used to verify your weekly reduction against your locked baseline and to decide whether your rewards unlock. Your device type, the image fingerprint, and your submission timing are used to catch fraud, for example the same screenshot submitted twice, or an image that has been edited. Stripe uses your payment details to process your subscription. Your notification token is used to deliver the alerts you asked for.
Full stop. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with advertisers or data brokers, and we do not use your screenshots to build an advertising profile. We have never done this and we are not planning to.
This is the part people ask about most, so here it is in detail.
When you submit a screenshot, it is sent to our validation service running on Cloudflare and read by an automated system, Anthropic's Claude, which pulls out your social media hours and checks that the image is a real, unedited Screen Time screenshot from the right week. No person reads your screenshot as part of that automatic check.
Our team can open a screenshot in two situations: when we review a submission that has been flagged, and when we look into a problem you have reported to us. That is the only human access.
We do not run ads against your screenshots, analyze them for anything other than screen time and authenticity, or share them with advertisers or data brokers.
If an automated check rejects your submission and you think that is wrong, email [email protected] and a person will look at it.
We use a small number of outside services to run the service, and each one only gets what it needs to do its job:
We may also disclose information if we are required to by law, or where we need to in order to investigate fraud or protect someone's safety. If Spend Life Living is ever involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may transfer as part of that, and we will tell you before it becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
Notifications are off until you turn them on. You can turn them off at any time under Profile, then Notification Preferences, or in your phone's system settings. Turning them off does not affect your membership or your rewards.
We keep your account, your submissions, and your screenshots for as long as you have an account. We need the history because every week is measured against the baseline you locked when you joined, and your progress through rounds depends on the weeks before it.
We do not currently delete submissions on a fixed schedule. If you want your data removed, see the next section and we will do it.
We may keep a minimal record of a transaction after deletion where we are required to for tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes.
There is no delete button in the app yet. To have your data removed, email [email protected] from the address on your account. We do it by hand and we will confirm when it is done. Give us up to 30 days.
One important thing: deleting your data does not cancel your subscription. Cancel that first under Profile, then Manage Subscription, or ask us to do both in the same email.
You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, correct something that is wrong, or delete it. Email [email protected] from the address on your account and we will handle it by hand.
If you are a Texas resident, the Texas Data Privacy and Security Act gives you the right to confirm whether we process your personal data, to access it, to correct it, to delete it, to obtain a copy of it in a portable form, and to opt out of sale or targeted advertising. We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for targeted advertising, so there is nothing to opt out of, but the other rights apply and you can exercise them using the email address above. If we turn down a request, you may appeal by replying to our decision, and we will respond within 60 days.
We will not treat you differently for exercising any of these rights.
The service is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has given us information, email [email protected] and we will delete it. Members under 18 need a parent or guardian involved, as described in our Terms of Service.
We limit who can access member data, we rely on established providers for hosting and payments, and data is transmitted over encrypted connections. No service can promise perfect security, and we will not pretend otherwise. If a breach affects your personal information, we will tell you.
Spend Life Living operates in the United States and the services listed above process data in the United States. The service is only available in Austin, Texas, and it is not directed at people outside the United States.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page, and for a material change we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
Reach out to [email protected] with any privacy question. We are a small team and we take this seriously.
